Gemini Data Loggers are a manufacturer of surveillance equipment, and recent sponsors of a major eco-friendly project. The AECB Low Energy Buildings Database will be transformed into an international knowledge platform on sustainable building. The Low Energy Buildings Database is available to the public, and gathers information about sustainable building and construction practices within the UK. AECB stands for Association for Environment Conscious Building, and the intention of the project is to create a global benchmark for low-energy buildings.
Marketing Director for Gemini Data Loggers, Ana Carmona Rodríguez said “As a UK manufacturer, we are delighted to be involved in a project that will promote better, more sustainable building design in the UK and beyond. Reliable monitoring of temperature, humidity and energy consumption is key to understanding building performance; from testing the efficiency of building materials and appliances, to pre- and post-occupancy evaluation of living conditions, data is what enables architects and designers to choose the most efficient designs and materials for creating comfortable, low-energy buildings.”
Low energy innovation is extremely important nowadays within the building sector, and the LEBD showcases 455 building projects in the UK which incorporate this into their designs. These include construction projects for private and social housing, offices and schools. The database is a unique and valuable reference for those wishing to replicate sustainable building practices.
Thanks to the funding, obsolete technology will be replaced and builders, homeowners, building contractors and local authorities will be able to access and share knowledge. CEO of AECB, Andy Simmonds, says, “The MCS Charitable Foundation funding and support from Gemini Data Logger as a Founding Sponsor will allow AECB to create a collaborative, international buildings platform for organisations in the UK, Ireland, Europe, North America, Canada and New Zealand to promote better designed and built, high performance, zero-carbon building.”
